This is an original brass life boat binnacle compass. The compass is liquid filled and functional. It measures about
9
inches tall. The base is 8 3/4 inches wide. The side door once housed a
small oil burner for lighting the compass dial, but it was missing when
we found this one. If you are looking for a nice nautical display piece, or that
perfect gift for that nautical lover, this is it! The compass card is
marked with the makers' name "Observator". I think this was a British
company. $195.00

WOW, this is box compass is out of this world!
This is a liquid filled fully functional gimballing cast brass
compass made by John Lilley & Gillie LDT. The compass housing measures
10 3/4 inches wide, and the outside gimbal ring measures 13 inches. The
custom made oak box measures 16 1/4 X 16 1/4 inches and is 8 inches
tall. All the hardware on the oak box is brass.
Compasses of this size were normally found in full size binnacles
located on the ship's navigation deck. The binnacle compass was such a
critical part of the navigation system, so it was not uncommon to find
spare compasses carried onboard the vessel.
In the attached photos you will see a dark line around the 130 - 140
degree outside ring. This is not a crack in the glass, it is something
under the glass, and has no impact on the function of the compass.

We do not see to many of these original life boat binnacle compasses
made of copper. This one is very cool since we just completed a hand
polish job on the outside housing. The life boat binnacle compass
measures 8 inches tall and the base is 8 1/4 inches wide with four mount
holes in the outside right. The compass is stamped "W. Ludolpn". Looks
like the other words in the stamping on the compass reads Hamburg, so I
think it is German. The compass is 5 inches wide and is liquid filled
and gimbals inside the housing. The compass card is functions, but looks
like it may be off by about 15 degrees. The side compartment houses a
small oil burner. This oil burner looks complete, but I have tested it
for leaks or function.

This is a very unusual helmet covered brass binnacle compass. The
base housing is cast brass, and top half is stamped brass. The gimbal
mounted liquid filled compass was made by Sestrel. The compass is
functional. As shown in the photo to the left, the binnacle stands just
under 11 inches tall. At the widest point it measures about 7 1/2 inches
wide. The compass is just 5 inches wide. The base measures 5 1/4 inches
not counting the three mounting legs. Not sure of the history on this
unit, but we have spotted this same style compass on many tug boats.
This compass can be made to shine, or you can leave it with the slightly
weather look.
This compass would display nice on a desk, or put it to use on your
converted tug!

This is a WWII Marching Compass made
by T.G. CO. LTD. The housing is bakelite and measures 2 1/2 X 2 1/2

functional, but I would not really try to navigate the world with it.

For those of you that like the finer things in life, here
is an original 1942 Mark 7 WWII Lionel Binnacle. This has been a three
year project here in the shop that today looks almost just like it did
the day we unloaded it from the truck. It needs the compass and front
glass, and then a little cleaning. I have enjoyed it just sitting in the
shop the way it is, and perhaps you will to.
We can ship this great historical piece, but due to the
300+ pounds of brass that it is made of, it will be a common carrier
project or local pickup.
The binnacle stands 57 inches tall, and at the widest point
it measures 33 inches wide.
The small plate you see below the window opening is the
original 1942 Lionel Company makers' plate with the Mark 7
identification.

If you are looking for an original nautical light
with that old crusty look, this may be the one for you. Not sure who
made this one, it is stamped "BT Anchor". "BT" may be the makers, but I
really do not know. This is a oil burning light, and the burner is
complete. The burner may need a little cleaning, and I have not tested
it for leaks. The globe is a 360 degree fresnel glass. The globe
measures about 6 1/2 inches tall and about 8 inches wide. The light
measures 18 1/2 inches tall, and 9 1/2 inches wide. Most of the
construction on this light is iron with surface rust and original paint.
No rusted holes. I replaced a few screws on the arms that attached the
top and bottom sections together. Weight is about 14 pounds. This is a
large light and will make a great decor piece! Item #P2-18 Price

I would call this one in "AS FOUND CONDITION". You are buying this one
just as I found it with the original paint. This original oil burning
light is complete. I have not tested the burner for leaks, but I do not
see any reason it would not hold oil. No makers' mark on this one. The
globe is clear fresnel glass with no damage, but it needs cleaned. The
light measures 19 inches tall. The flat back side is 8 inches wide. From
the back to the curved front it measures 8 1/2 inches. Weight is about 9
pounds. Constructed of all iron, has surface rust but no holes! Great
looking untouched light! Item #P2-19 Price $160.00 Plus

This is an original iron oil burning lamp. It has a
complete burner, but I have not tested the pod for leaks. The glass
globe has a few issues like a 2 inch and a 1 inch crack and a few pits.
The globe is still held in place with no repairs, so it make a good
display. No makers' mark or date, but I think it must be 50-70 years
old. Measures about 11 1/2 inches tall with the handle up. The globe is
about 5 1/2 inches wide, and the gage is about 7 1/2 inches wide.

This is an original oil burning lantern that measures 10 inches tall

glass with no damage. The oil burner was missing the wick and fount, but
we have replace the missing piece with a new one. I have not tested the
oil pods ability to hold oil, but I see no indication of a problem. This

I am going to date this lamp to pre-1900's.
Unless something changes, this is the only candle powered nautical lamp
you will find in my inventory. With the (iron) handle up, it measures 13
inches tall, or 9 inches tall with the handle down as shown to the left.
The glass globe is original and undamaged. The top housing is all brass.
The bottom half of this lamp is brass and tin. It looks to me like this
lamp originally had some sort of wire cage around the globe as you can
see the remains of four attachment points at the very top and bottom
edge of the frame near the glass. You are seeing the lamp just as I
found it in one of the oldest lamp collections I have ever been able to
buy from. This came from a US collection, but is has no makers' name or
country markings.

oil, and was converted to electric so it could be used in your home.
This light is 26 inches tall and about 10 inches wide. The copper and brass section of the light measures 25 inches tall

the construction is copper coated iron. Needless to say the exposure to

This is a three piece set of original ship's navigation lights. The
housing on each light is constructed of copper. The globes are 360
degree fresnel plastic. The red globe is in the best condition is just a
little wear. The clear globe has some clouding and looks like the buffer
got into it when it was getting polished in a few areas. The globes in
the green light are in good condition, but I am not sure if it was a
makers' defect or if a hot bulb caused a slight rise in one section of
the globe. Either way you look at it, the globes are complete and not
cracked. While this is a three piece set, the masthead light is just a
little different in design, but this is not that uncommon that the
masthead was just a little different than the port and starboard lights.
The red and green lights measure 18 1/2 inches tall with the masthead
light being more like 19 1/2 inches tall. All three measure 8 inches
wide.
All three lights have been re-wired new UL
Listed bulb fixtures were installed and normal screw in house bulbs 40
watts or less will work in these lights. We placed the new wires in the
original holes, but you can drill one hole in the base and hide all the

This is an extra large set of Port and Starboard
Navigation light. Check out how big they are compared to the Coke can.
Each light weighs 20 pounds. Each light is just under 15 inches tall.
From the pointed back side to the rounded front side they measure 13 1/2
inches deep. From front corner to front corner they are 14 inches wide.
The fresnel glass lens are about 10 inches wide and 7 inches tall. The
fresnel glass lens in both light have considerable edge chipping as you
can see in the attached photos. It may be a little hard to see in the
photos, but the light on the right side has a red lens behind the clear
fresnel lens, and the light on the left hand side has a green lens
behind the clear fresnel lens. The top access cover is held closed by
two large wing nuts, and they all turn freely. We have re-wired both
lights with new UL-Listed parts made by Westinghouse. All new electrical
parts are rated for any voltage under 250 volts. A normal screw in house
bulb of 75 watts of less with work fine in these lights. A T-10
Appliance bulb will work even better in these lights! We show the new
electrical wire entering the lights from the original conduit holes on
the side of the light. If you want, we can plug the original conduit
holes and drill new access holes on the back side or bottom of each
light. These lights are constructed of solid brass and copper parts so
they will last forever even if they are used outside!

This is a very hard to find set of original cast brass lights made by
PERKO in Miami Florida. Each light measures 17 inches tall and 7 inches
wide. Each light has four mount holes on the base that are 8 inches on
center. These lights have not been re-wired and I consider the remains
of the original lighting to be non-working. These lights are from the
1950's and while we have removed the paint and polished the brass, they
still need some TLC. One of the top caps has part of the threads
missing, but it still screws on and gets tight.

recommend T-10 appliance bulbs for use in these lights. The new power

This is a nice three piece set of original brass ship's lights. They
were made in Italy. Each light measures about 18 inches tall, and 7
inches wide (not including any of the mount arms). The globes are 360
degree fresnel glass and show light wear, but no cracks or holes. Each
light has two bulbs. We have re-wired this light with new Westinghouse
UL Listed fixtures and wire. Wired for up to 250 volts, and they use a
normal screw in house bulb of 75 watts or less. We used the original
entry points for the new wire, but most people will plug these holes and
drill a single entry hole in the base to hide the wire during
installation. These lights were designed to for outside use, but they
also make interesting interior lights. If you noticed the red light does
not have the two electrical holes lined up like the other two, do not
worry, it was just positioned wrong last time we put the top section
back on, and we can turn it back to the right position.
