This is a vintage Windmill Style Anemometer that was recovered from a
vessel destined to be cut up for scrap at one of our international ship
breakers we work with.
The polished aluminum propeller has four blades and measures 13 1/2
inches tip to tip. From the ground to the top of the tail it measures 30
inches tall (not counting the control box it is sitting on). From the front tip to the back side of the tail it measures
26 inches. This item is mostly made of polished brass. The base mount is
6 inches wide with 5 mount holes. The prop turns freely and the unit
spins 360 degrees on the mount pipe.
Rarely will you see one of these items show up with the control box
recovered form the ship's bridge. The control box (the green box the
anemometer is sitting on) measures 9 1/2 X 19 1/2 inches and is 6 inches
thick. The side of the control box has a drawing for the wiring
instructions. The control box has two meters to determine the wind speed
and the wind direction. The black knob controls the lights on the dials
and the silver toggle switch turns the unit on and off.
I have no way to tell you if you can hook this item up and make
it measure wind speed or direction, but I can tell you it make a great
display!
Total unpacked weight is 54 pounds

Check out this way to cool flare gun! It measures 14 inches long. If
you push the lever just below the trigger it allows the barrel to flip
open to load a shell. No, I have never fired it with a live round. I
have dry fired it and everything works with no problems. The inside of
the barrel is just over one inch wide. The wood handle has a little wear
as you can see in the attached photos. Once side of the gun is marked
FL7772, and the other side has some makers' stamps. Check out the
additional photos of this item by clicking your mouse on the photo to

This is Life Boat deployment bell. It was recovered from a ship
breaking yard in Alang India. It made of cast iron we cleaned it up. The
voltage is not marked, but I think this one operated on 28 Volts. It was
functional when we removed it from the vessel. It measures 10 inches
tall and 8 inches wide. When mounted to the wall it will extend out by 3
1/2 inches.
Great Display Piece!

The larger item is a 12 1/2 inch tall all brass steam whistle. Thought to have been
used on a river boat but could have also been a locomotive or ship
whistle. Weights just over 4 pounds. No makers' mark found.
Working condition has been tested, it works just find on about 90 PSI.
$395.00 Plus Shipping The smaller item is a 7 inch tall all

a river boat, train, or on a large vessel. Weighs about 2 pounds and has

This is a vintage home
made signal cannon. This is just how I found this on a house call in the
New England area. The metal is brass and measures 12 1/4 inches long.
The overall length of the item is just short of 21 inches. I do not know
what the wood type is.
While I see no reason this signal cannon would not work, for safety
reasons I recommend not firing it.

This is a vintage iron cannon. It measures 19 inches long. The barrel
opening measures one inch with the barrel being 2 3/4 inches wide at
this same end. The other end of the cannon measures about 3 1/4 inches
wide at the widest point. The touch hole connects to the main chamber,
so I would say that this is something more than just a display piece.
Due to the age of this item, I do not recommend any test fires! The
housing of the cannon has some markings, but they do not indicate a
makers' name or date. I have been told that this cannon could have been
a rail cannon. Meaning that it was somehow attached to the rail of a
ship. Some people think it is some sort of signal cannon while others
think it really fired a projectile. I am of the opinion that it was some
sort of signal cannon, and I date it to be well over 100 years old. Item P4-15

While these wonderful binoculars are not marked or dated they are
thought to be WWII German. The base was made by us to provide a means of
displaying this very nice historical item. The binoculars measure about
13 inches long. When mounted to the base, the item measures just over 9
inches tall. We have made no effort to restore the painted surface, so
as you can see in the attached photos the surface paint has some
chipping. The glass lens are undamaged. I do not know the magnification
power, but they do still work. The binoculars is shown in the level
position, but they do tilt up and down, and will rotate 360 degrees on
the display base. Item #P4-16 $575.00 Plus Shipping

This is a very nice four draw vintage telescope. The main
tubes are made of cardboard with decorated paper. The end pieces are
brass. It has two removable end caps (dust covers). The smaller of the
two end caps is stamped "US Patent April ** 1**6 Germany". Sorry I just
can't be 100% sure of the patent date, but it could be 1896 or it could
be 1936. The stamping on the cap is near impossible to read. As shown in
the photo to the left, it measures 11 1/2 inches. When extended, it
measures about 32 inches long. It is really hard to focus, as the stops
for the draws are not easily determined due to the design of the pull
out draws. As with most telescopes from either 1896 or 1936, you will
find wear to the housing but it is complete.

Here is a piece of history from the Brown Ship Building Company in
Houston, Texas. We were told that this employee badge was made into a
watch fob by the original owner so he could better display his company
badge while working at the plant. The metal ring badge is 1 3/4 inches
wide and with the leather support it measures 6 inches long. I have not
taken this piece apart, but I think the section with the image of the
ship is made of celluloid. This is a very cool display piece.
This company was started in 1942 to build war time vessels. Between
May 1943 and August 1944, Brown Shipbuilding Company turned out 61
destroyer escorts, an average of one per week.

These are map weights that were used on the ship's bridge to
hold those pesky old maps flat on the navigators work area. I have seen
many different designs used, but the clutching hand shown on the top

The larger cast iron bell on the left side of the photo
is a wall or ceiling mount bell that could
have been used on a ship's bridge or on a trolley car. This turn of the
century bell is in original working condition. As shown in the photo to
the left, it measures 12 inches long with the iron bell being 5 inches
wide. Stand back, it make some noise if you pull it hard. No pull cord
was found with it, but it is clear it had one attached to the moving
arm. Pay close attention to how this bell mounts to your structure as it
is not your normal flat wall mount. I am thinking this bell mounted to
two support beams with the bell hanging between the support beams, or it
has some slightly raised blocks on the two mount points so the bell
would clear the back wall.
The smaller bell on the right hand side of the photo
is also a turn of the
century bell came that may have been used on a ship or a trolley. I figure it was designed to
be mounted to the ceiling. While this bell looks brass, it is really
iron. It is in working order, but I do not consider it to be a loud
bell. The bell measures just short of 4 inches wide.
