This is an early 1900's bilge pump that has the makers' mark "Perks Phila". Made of mostly brass it measures 24 inches tall as shown in the photo to the left. Yes it works! On the intake pipe the last four pieces are not brass. On the discharge pipe, the last four pieces are not brass. The section that you place your foot into is iron. The wood handle is worn, but not split.

This bulge pump was made in the late 1800's by Femyers and Brothers. Made of mostly brass with some cast iron hardware. It measures 25 1/2 inches tall. I have recently polished all the brass and it works.

This would make a great working piece, or could make that perfect display piece.

This is way to cool!  I am not sure if it was intended to be a salesman sample or if someone made it to be a reduced size working capstan. This capstan measures just 8 inches tall. The base plate (not the wood base I put it on) measures 9 x 10 inches. I have disassembled this capstan for cleaning, oiling , and some fresh paint. Everything works as designed. No makers' mark or date, but I would say it must be 100 years old. Made of all cast iron, it weighs in at 48 pounds. I mounted it to a 10 1/2 X 13 inch piece of cedar wood. The pipe holes are about 1 1/4 wide. I do not have the pipe handle.

This is a rare piece that will make a great display or working unit!

We are going to call this a glass paperweight, but it really started out in life has a 1930's candy container. How was it a candy container? When originally used as a candy container, the item was turned over and filled with small pieces of hard candy. The opening on the bottom was fitted with a paper cover. This makes a great display piece and many people use them on the desk to hold paper in place. It measures 4 3/4 inches long, 1 3/4 inches wide, and stands just 1 1/2 inches tall. It weights 6 ounces. Sorry for the poor photos, these clear glass items just do not photo very easy. The glass is clear, un-chipped, and has much better details than you can see in my photos.

Great gift for the nautical lover!

This is an original life boat fog horn. It measures 22 inches tall. The horn is brass and measures 14 1/2 inches tall. The top of the cylinder is iron and the cylinder is made of fiberglass or plastic. This is a real cool unit as it makes great fog horn noise in the up and down stroke of the pump handle. Weighs just 10 pounds.

You are looking at a 23 inch long hand made ship's model. The real ship that this model was made after was scrapped in the breaking yards just North of Bombay last year. This model was found on the bridge of the vessel. As you can see by the photos, the condition is not mint, but it will still make a great display! Looks like it had a display cover, but it was long gone when I found the model. The highest point of the model measures 6 1/2 inches, not counting the blue base it is mounted to.

This has got to be one of the best toys a true nautical lover could ever have. It is a Fog Horn made by the Tokyo Siren Company, and they were normally found on Life Boats. They were placed on the Life Boats and used as a device to alert passing vessels of the location of a deployed Life Boat. At 33 cranks per minute the noise can be heard 1.5 miles away. Here is how it works. If you click on the photo to the left, it will load four additional photos. In the additional photos, look at the photo in the lower right hand position. This is how they were stored on the life boats. When needed, you would flip the four locking devices on the top cover. The item would be removed from the box. The box cover would be re-installed upside down to expose the two large wing nuts that the item would now be mounted to the top of the box. The next step would be to pull out the three part extendable horn. Next the crank handle is turned into the crank position. From here it get interesting. You can operate it two different ways. I like to press down on the red ball and then turn the handle. This process allows you to hear the siren in what I call the windup mode. The other way to operate it is the turn the handle very fast, and then push down on the red ball. Doing it this way gives you the noise all at once. Either way, you can let up on the red ball and then press it down and the noise starts and stops on this action. The original wood box measures 11 X 19 inches, and is 13 inches tall.

Yes, I have tested (played) with it, and it is fully functional!

I am not 100% sure how this was used, but since I found it on a vessel with other vintage navigation equipment I think it must have been used in conjunction with a sexton to navigate. I am sure it must be some sort of a transit, but how it worked is not something I can describe. I will tell you that it can be focused like a telescope and the level bubble works fine. The item is held in the box by a brass locking device that is found on the bottom of the box. The dovetailed box measures 5 1/2 X 11 1/2 inches and is 5 1/4 inches tall. The transit measures 10 inches long. I do not see any missing or broken parts.

Great display piece. Makers' mark reads "Wissler-St.Louis".

This is one of the largest functional fog horns you are going to find. Not sure of the range, but I think it most be close to 5 miles at 100 PSI. It measures just over 6 feet long with the opening on the widest end being 35 inches. The main housing of the horn is iron, and the control valve is cast brass. The brass valve is 9 1/2 inches wide on the top. The blue connection line is part of our shop equipment for testing toys, so it is not part of the sale. The air supply on the horn is a standard 1/2 pipe thread. We made the horn function with as much as 100 PSI, and as little as 75 PSI. You need a reserve air tank because it takes air flow to make it work real well. This item is located in Felton, Delaware. You can do local pickup, or we can crate and ship. This is a large steam whistle that measure 31 inches tall and about 7 inches wide. It is all brass and weights 88 pounds. The arm moves freely. As you can see in the photo to the left, it has a dent in the upper housing. The bottom bell measures about 7 inches wide and is marked "SALCO NEW YORK". I have no way to test this whistle, but see no reason it will not work if you have the air supply to operate.

You are looking at one of two matching brass portholes that look like they were cut out right of a wooden vessel with a chain saw. I though long and hard about removing the wood, but in the end I thought the remains of the wooded vessel added to the neatness of the piece.  The wood remains are about 18 X 20 inches. The side with the wing nut closures measures 17 inches at the widest point. The opening window door measures 13 inches wide with the glass being 10 1/4 inches wide. Both wing nut lugs work freely. On the back side of this porthole, the ring measures just over 15 inches wide and has 6 mount holes. The inside of the window hole measures 12 inches wide. The total thickness of this porthole measures something like 6 inches, but only 3 inches if you do not count the wing nut and the threaded shaft it spins on. As show, each window will weigh around 44 pounds. If the wood was removed, I would estimate the weight to be 38 pounds. No makers' mark found, but it could be marked on the back side of the front mount plate.

**SUPER RARE LIBERTY SHIP FUEL AND WATER PORTHOLE"  This is the first one of these I have ever owned. They were designed to act like a port hole, but they do not have the glass window in them. They were designed to open and allow fuel or water lines to enter the vessel, and then to have a secure means of closing. This all brass port hole weights 45 pounds. The front hatch cover measures 13 1/2 inches wide. The back side hole measures 11 1/2 inches wide. At the widest point, it measures 10 inches thick. The three closure dogs move freely and the door opens and closes with no issues. Now, what would you do with an odd looking porthole like this? Ever thought about having a shadow box built into the wall made from a porthole? This would also make a great functional pass threw hole near the water line of a vessel, as it remains water tight and functional. Let's not forget, it is a great historical display piece also!
